Sue Corbett grew up in New York, the daughter of Irish immigrants. After attending Fairfield University and the University of Missouri Graduate School of Journalism, she began a career as a reporter, first at television stations in Missouri, South Carolina, and Florida; then as a writer at the Miami Herald. Since 1996, she’s been the Herald’s children’s book reviewer. She is also a regular contributor to Publishers Weekly and People magazines. Her first novel for young readers, 12 Again, was an International Reading Association Honor book and won the 2006 California Young Readers Medal. Her second novel, Free Baseball, is a 2006 Junior Library Guild selection and is a finalist for the Virginia Reader’s Choice award, Maryland’s Black-Eyed Susan Award, and the Rhode Island Children’s Book Award. Look for Sue’s story, “Fall Ball,” in Baseball Crazy, an anthology being published by Dial Books in Spring 2008. Sue is married to Tom Davidson, a newspaper executive. The couple has two infielders, Conor, 13, and Liam, 10, and one ballerina, Brigit, 7. The family also enjoys the company (most of the time) of their dog, a talking beagle named Louie. |
