My 10 year old , Benji, and I read Free Baseball (on our ContraCosta County library list) and found it, not only affecting for Latino boys who are into baseball(as in our family) but also children of divorce or who may have lost a father. I will be recommending it to our teacher. There is a moment for many boys when they must confront the painful finality of divorce. That moment in your book brought that unforgettable memory back for me, as well as the need to find new adult mentors, as Felix does.

I want to second Eric’s post. Free Baseball was a great book for our son to read. It’s so tough to get him interested, and finally a book about baseball was able to get him there. I guess it’s a good start!
My baseball loving-sons really enjoy sports magazines — SI for Kids, Baseball America and such. Some kids don’t love novels but will read voraciously if the subject matter interests them. I give a lot of magazine subscriptions to boys as gifts!

I just finished your book “12 Again” and the ending was marvelous and great. I just love the book! You really capture the way twelve year olds think, feel and like live.
